Celebrate the river

Idea

The idea of the festival was conceived together with two like-minded women, Romena and Vitalija. Working on a community platform, with Kaunas22 (Kaunas European Capital of Culture 2022). The aim is to invite the citizens of the city to look back to the rivers, to accept them as their own, to spend time by the rivers more often and in a "different" way. We invited the communities along the rivers to join us in creating the event. The event continues to be organised with the support of the City of Kaunas, as a legacy of Kaunas2022.

Event visual.

As this is a community event, it was decided to use a lot of illustrations to help convey the sense of community and the various activities along the rivers. Playful illustrations are used to invite people of all ages to join in.

The logo of the event itself is the letter U, which represents the turn of the river. U is for river. The colour used is mainly shades of blue, which of course symbolises water. For contrast, other colours are used alongside, such as bright yellow or pink. New illustrations, social media advertising and maps are created each year for the event.
